Venice Beach New Year’s Resolution Tips! The Venice Beach House

It’s that time of year again, when everything feels fresh and anything possible during the first month of a new year. In January, most of the population makes a resolution, or ten, with the intent on self-improvement. Polls have shown that the top 2017 resolution is to lose weight and eat healthier, which is no surprise. We may be biased, but there aren’t many cities in the United States that is more conducive for one to reach that goal than here in Venice.
With countless workout options on every corner and new trendy healthy restaurants perpetually popping up, one can feel bewildered on where to start. Here are a few suggestions on where to work up and satisfy your appetite, New Year’s approved:

Muscle Beach is the perfect way of combining the physical intensity of a proper workout with the joy of being out on a beautiful, sunny day. With outdoor weightlifting equipment, basketball and tennis courts, this is a must see for visitors and locals alike. Many in the state see Muscle Beach as a true symbol of a 100 year tradition of a highly enriched California Beach Lifestyle. Fun tidbit: Muscle Beach is the first place that Arnold Schwarzenegger went to when he arrived in this country 48 years ago. He still frequents the gym.

Beach Yoga with Brad is a free 90-minute yoga class on the beach in Santa Monica every Saturday and Sunday morning, and during select sunsets. The beautiful year-round beach weather combined with Brad’s in-depth yoga knowledge can attract up to 60 students a session. No registration required. Namaste!

If you like bike riding, head to The Venice Beach Bike Path for fresh beach air at one of California’s most famous outdoor bike paths. There are numerous places on the boardwalk where you can rent a bike for as long as you need during the day. You can ride the few scenic miles to Santa Monica, or if you’re feeling really motivated, you can bike the total length of the path, which is 26 miles. This Pacific shore bike path stretches from the Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades, to the far end of the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Torrance. Along the way enjoy the beautiful beach and the special energy of the boardwalk from the eclectic locals and visitors.

After working up a sweat, head to Café Gratitude, a restaurant mecca of delicious, healthy cuisine in Venice. Featuring 100% organic, plant-based dishes that go by names such as I Am Warm-Hearted (grilled polenta served with mushroom ragu) and Spectacular (a perennial superfood salad). In addition to tasty food, it is also a great spot for people watching and celeb spotting in a lively setting.
