Cora Wilson was the daughter of
Warren Wilson, who built the beach retreat in 1911 and died suddenly in 1917. She married Roy Pruitt and together, they raised a family in this house. Cora cooked, served and reigned as hostess of the dwelling for over 40 years, through two World Wars, Prohibition and the Depression. She must have greatly enjoyed her cooking because she tipped the scale at 300 pounds when she passed away.
Just before her death, she took the family gathering photograph, also featured in this suite at The Venice beach House in Southern California. In it, the guests are celebrating the end of World War II.
